Tencent has increased its stake in FromSoftware’s parent company, Kadokawa, by 1.11%, bringing its total shareholding ratio to 7.97%.

As reported by Nikkei, Tencent said it had increased its share “as part of a capital business alliance between the submitter and the issuer.”

It brings Tencent’s share of Kadokawa to within two points of Sony’s, which increased its shares to 10% last December, making it FromSoftware’s parent company’s biggest shareholder.

At the time, Kodokawa announced a “strategic capital and business alliance agreement” which saw Sony acquire more than 12 million new shares in Kadokawa on January 7, 2025 for around ¥50 billion ($318 million).
